Me N Eds-7080 N. Cedar Ave.

9 Jan
Outside Sign7080 N. Cedar Ave. Fresno, CA 93720
1 Star out of 5 Stars
Pros:
  • Have high chairs
  • If your child is noisy, it’s not really an issue.
Cons:
  • No booster seat
  • No Changer
  • High chair cannot be turned upside down for a car seat
  • No car seat sling
  • No Nursing area.

Personal Experience:

I think the atmosphere of a place & how comfortable you feel w/your child makes a difference in each place that is visited. Since our son is older, the place was fine for him to walk around, look at toy/candy vending machines & not disturb others as he walks past them &/or waves : D There are some booths, so a car seat could go in one of those & if REALLY needed you could always use the bench seats as a changing table. Although my husband & I try not to do that in restaurants, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to take off that poo! = P

Regal Manchester Stadium 16 (Signature Theater)

12 Oct

            2055 E. Shields Ave. Fresno, CA 93726

4 Stars out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Have changing table in bathroom
  • Have booster seats (who knew!?)
  • Can park your stroller next to your seat in the front rows

Cons:

  • No designated nursing room
  • The sound of the movies can be REALLY loud, especially for little ears.

Personal Experience:

Taking babies or small children can get controversial amongst movie go-ers. When they are small they are more portable, sleep longer & don’t want to run up & down the aisles. BUT, the movies can be VERY loud for them which is why some people have them wear something to block some of the sound. While there is no designated nursing room, the theater is dark enough that you feel you have some privacy…hoping no stranger is sitting right next to you : p

Depending on the movie (kids movie or not) people will tolerate some noise from your kids, but non-kid movies…not too much.

I’d say this theater is about as kid/baby friendly a movie theater can be.

585 W. Nees Ave. #123  Fresno, CA 93711

1/2 Star out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Have high chairs
  • Place is loud enough that your child making noise is not an issue.

Cons:

  • No car seat sling
  • No nursing area-nowhere to really nurse, chairs are uncomfortable & the bathroom is a single handicap bathroom.
  • No changing table
  • High chairs cannot be turned upside down because the back is raised. So if you attempt this you run the risk of your baby being knocked over, since it’s not really what they are meant to do.
  • Not really room to bring your stroller in, unless you “park” by the door.

Personal Experience:

The food is DELICIOUS! The vegetables taste fresh, as well as the rest of the food. I got a half/half bowl of steak & chicken….my goodness that steak was SO tender. It is a small business, so the tables are pretty close together. We really enjoyed the food, unfortunately did not feel it was very baby friendly : (

Denny’s

“hmmm…what to order??”

530 S. Clovis Ave. Fresno

4 1/2 out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Have high chairs
  • Have boosters
  • Can turn high chairs upside down to put a car seat in
  • Changing tables in BOTH men & women’s restroom
  • Loud enough that if your kids is babbling or making noise, it’s not a big deal, but not so loud that you get a headache
  • Kids menu
  • Kids eat free on certain days w/a paid adult entrée.

Cons:

  • No nursing area

Personal Experience:

On this particular occasion it was FREEZING inside. Which for the restaurant, the a/c is only off or on, not temp controlled & apparently the heat is the same in the wintertime-all or nothing. I thankfully keep  a couple of blankets in the car for my son. The waitress was very kind & when we told her the high chair was sticky she wiped it down for us quickly & helpfully. She was very mindful of my son & tried to make him comfortable as well.

Other than the freezing temperature, the meal & experience was good. BUT Because of the not having an area to nurse, I couldn’t give them a full 5 stars.

Starbucks

2 Oct

1/2 Star out of 5

Pros:

  • Drive thru-you don’t have to stay there.
  • There are a couple of items kids can have & some drinks can be modified w/out caffeine for kids.

Cons:

  • Nowhere to nurse-no nursing room & the chairs are uncomfortable.
  • NO changing tables
  • Not really room for you to park your stroller inside.
  • No high chairs

Personal Experience:

This review is from a subscriber; She noticed that there really isn’t a baby/kid friendly Starbucks. There doesn’t seem to be a changing table or high chairs at ANY of their billion locations.

It seems intentional to keep kids out; which is a growing trend of making places “Adults only”.

I personally almost never go to Starbucks, I’ve never been much a of a coffee drinker. Altho, I have wanted to down a few cups just to have the energy to get through the day of taking care of my son, but I figured the caffeine would go to him too & HE didn’t need more energy.

Sonic

4687 N. Blackstone Ave.  Fresno, CA 93726

1/2 Star out of 5

Pros:

  • Have high chairs (I KNOW! I didn’t know that before either!! 🙂
  • Drive thru-so you don’t have to stay

Cons:

  • NO changing tables
  • Nowhere to nurse-(really awkward to nurse in your car, not just because of how uncomfortable it is in the car but also because of the cars of people at every angle = P
  • If you decide to sit outside its kind of dangerous with cars driving on both sides of you for the drive thru.

Personal Experience:

My son is old enough to sit up & eat. But once he wanted to get up & walk around it was time to go. We ate with friends so with them helping it allowed us to finish eating then leave. I’m sure you can take your kids & eat in the car, which knowing your own kids, you’ll know how well that works for your family.

Red lobster

3 out of 5 stars

Pros:

  • Have high chairs
  • Have a changing table in the women’s restroom (not sure if one in the mens)
  • Restaurant is loud enough that if your child is making noise it’s often not very noticeable.
  • It’s a small thing, but I VERY much appreciated the little hook inside the handicap door that allowed me to hang his diaper bag on, instead of putting it on the floor.

Cons:

  • Nowhere to nurse
  • Booth tables are pretty close so there is little room to nurse at the booth without the baby hitting their head if they move much.

Personal Experience:

We went on a all-you-can-eat night so the place was pretty busy. Needless to say by the time my son was “done” sitting still & being quiet, it was loud enough that he wasn’t an issue. Trying to nurse while sitting at a table is uncomfortable & kind of awkward when there are people sitting at every angle around you. On one occasion, there was a man leering at me in SUCH  a creepy way & not at ALL trying to hide it. I went to a booth in a corner.

Which poses its own issue unless your child is small & doesn’t move much. My son was 7 months old & did NOT fit either of these categories so he ended up hitting his head on the heavy wood table : (

WinCo Supermarket

10 Sep

1004 S Peach Ave, Fresno, CA 93727

2 out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Diaper changer in women’s bathroom.
  • Baby seats on some carts

Cons:

  • No diaper changer in the men’s bathroom
  • No nursing room
  • No “child’s” seat in the handicap bathroom for children who are old enough to walk & the doors do not go all the way down so your child is free to peek at people in the next stall or try to crawl out.

Personal Experience:

It SUCKS if you’re by yourself & have to use the restroom. The toilets flush very LOUD & echo so your little one may seek comfort in your arms. The plus side of this is that you can master using the bathroom with one hand while carrying a kid in the other trying to avoid touching anything in the bathrooms! ; P

As I’m sure every parent knows already, you really have to plan your trip to the supermarket carefully. You either have to keep it short or time it PERFECTLY between their naps & feeding times-Dont forget travel tiiiime! : )

In fairness to the “child” seat, I’ve only seen this at one business EVER & now that my son wants to go everywhere I sooo appreciate them!! : D
