Dollar Tree-Any Fresno store

23 Sep

0 of 5 Stars

I almost dread having to go to this store.

Not because I will go in for 1 or 2 items, pick up whatever I fancy, all along saying, “hmm, it’s only a $1” & come out with more than $20 of items ;P

It’s also not  because the ghetto-ness varies from store to store; But if you have to go with toddlers or babies-Plan ahead!

This is a VERY un-baby friendly store.

Very, VERY rarely will you find a Dollar Tree store where they will allow you use of a public restroom, which therefore takes away any changing table (which they don’t have anyways), & FORGET anywhere to nurse!

So in (very) short, Not baby/toddler/Nursing Friendly. You’re better off almost anywhere else :-/

If you’ve been to a Dollar Tree Store & had a better experience, PLEASE, let us know which one 🙂

Bj’s Country Kitchen

200 W Shaw Ave # 103 Clovis, Ca. 93612

1 Star out of 5

Pros:

  • High chairs

Cons:

  • No boosters
  • Tight spacing, no room for stroller
  • Nowhere to nurse
  • No changing table

Personal Experience:

I’ve been to this restaurant before & had good dining experiences, I don’t know if the economy has gotten that bad or just customer service in general. Yet the thought that kept coming to my mind was…So gross.

I mean, I feel grossed out even thinking about eating there. The food was heeecka greasy & I mean GREASY.We waited so long to get our food & I began to wonder if it was because they were letting the hash browns soak in the oil for that long. Granted, when the waitress said we had 5 tickets ahead of us (after waiting 20 mins from our order being taken) I asked if there was ANYTHING they could bring out. She happily said she could bring out my biscuits n Gravy…Thank you Lord!

The tables are SO close together, even if it is loud enough for your kid to make noise, the tables are only an arm’s length away so it’s like you’re sharing a table, haha!

Now this is my own growing pet peeve, but everything was sticky. I get a little grossed out thinking that it’s been THAT long since the plastic menus have been wiped down, especially being that you handle them BEFORE you get your food, so it’s not from the food that it’s getting that way.

The food just wasn’t that good & I regretted not eating at Denny’s. Not that Denny’s food is top cuisine but it sure beat Bj’s Country Kitchen.

1 Star out of 5 Stars
Pros:
  • Have high chairs
  • If your child is noisy, it’s not really an issue.
Cons:
  • No booster seat
  • No Changer
  • High chair cannot be turned upside down for a car seat
  • No car seat sling
  • No Nursing area.

Personal Experience:

I think the atmosphere of a place & how comfortable you feel w/your child makes a difference in each place that is visited. Since our son is older, the place was fine for him to walk around, look at toy/candy vending machines & not disturb others as he walks past them &/or waves : D There are some booths, so a car seat could go in one of those & if REALLY needed you could always use the bench seats as a changing table. Although my husband & I try not to do that in restaurants, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to take off that poo! = P

5 1/2 Stars out of 5

Pros:

  • Have a WONDERFUL nursing room
  • Changing table in nursing room
  • Have a child seat in the handicap- so you can buckle your child in & not have to worry about them while you use the restroom, GENIUS!
  • The staff is INCREDIBLY helpful!! I mean so helpful I thought maybe they were getting a commission or something!

Cons:

  • It’s not a restaurant that you can also eat there w/ the same conveniences you can use while you shop
  • No rewards program

Personal Experience:

Ok, I am not being paid to write any of these reviews, but I can not rave enough about this place!

I LOVE going to this store. I kid you not, I would plan my errands & trips around this place.

This store has THEE best freakin nursing room I have EVER utilized! Ever. The environment is tranquil, CLEAN, & com-for-ta-ble!! Now when you think that they sell this stuff, so how hard was it for them to put it in a specific room. YET, there are other stores that sell these SAME items & DON’T do the same thing *cough-babies r’ us*

At one point I literally would take all of my babies r’ us ads into this store to buy my stuff because I got a taste of the good life, a wonderful nursing room! hahaha, ok I know I’m going on & on about it, but especially when you’re a new frazzled mom, having a great nursing room where you can relax for a feeding is just one of the best things you can get as a mom.

The staff is incredibly helpful & knowledgeable, they are very professional & make you feel like a valued customer.

Regal Manchester Stadium 16 (Signature Theater)

12 Oct

            2055 E. Shields Ave. Fresno, CA 93726

4 Stars out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Have changing table in bathroom
  • Have booster seats (who knew!?)
  • Can park your stroller next to your seat in the front rows

Cons:

  • No designated nursing room
  • The sound of the movies can be REALLY loud, especially for little ears.

Personal Experience:

Taking babies or small children can get controversial amongst movie go-ers. When they are small they are more portable, sleep longer & don’t want to run up & down the aisles. BUT, the movies can be VERY loud for them which is why some people have them wear something to block some of the sound. While there is no designated nursing room, the theater is dark enough that you feel you have some privacy…hoping no stranger is sitting right next to you : p

Depending on the movie (kids movie or not) people will tolerate some noise from your kids, but non-kid movies…not too much.

I’d say this theater is about as kid/baby friendly a movie theater can be.

585 W. Nees Ave. #123  Fresno, CA 93711

1/2 Star out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Have high chairs
  • Place is loud enough that your child making noise is not an issue.

Cons:

  • No car seat sling
  • No nursing area-nowhere to really nurse, chairs are uncomfortable & the bathroom is a single handicap bathroom.
  • No changing table
  • High chairs cannot be turned upside down because the back is raised. So if you attempt this you run the risk of your baby being knocked over, since it’s not really what they are meant to do.
  • Not really room to bring your stroller in, unless you “park” by the door.

Personal Experience:

The food is DELICIOUS! The vegetables taste fresh, as well as the rest of the food. I got a half/half bowl of steak & chicken….my goodness that steak was SO tender. It is a small business, so the tables are pretty close together. We really enjoyed the food, unfortunately did not feel it was very baby friendly : (

Big Fresno Fair-Nursing Room

5 Oct
This is a special FYI to all nursing mommies,
Here’s a bit of exciting or good news; the Big Fresno Fair will have a special “Mommy Zone”  just for breastfeeding moms. It will be a private, air-conditioned space for moms to feed and change their babies.
How great is that!!!
It’s located near the Found Children’s Gingerbread House just inside the Westamerica Bank Gate Entrance on Chance Ave. So you can plan a nursing trip around your famous fair corn dog, cinnamon roll or mmm, deep fried ice cream!   : D
If you use it, let us know about how comfortable it was for you! =)

Denny’s

3 Oct

“hmmm…what to order??”

530 S. Clovis Ave. Fresno

4 1/2 out of 5 Stars

Pros:

  • Have high chairs
  • Have boosters
  • Can turn high chairs upside down to put a car seat in
  • Changing tables in BOTH men & women’s restroom
  • Loud enough that if your kids is babbling or making noise, it’s not a big deal, but not so loud that you get a headache
  • Kids menu
  • Kids eat free on certain days w/a paid adult entrée.

Cons:

  • No nursing area

Personal Experience:

On this particular occasion it was FREEZING inside. Which for the restaurant, the a/c is only off or on, not temp controlled & apparently the heat is the same in the wintertime-all or nothing. I thankfully keep  a couple of blankets in the car for my son. The waitress was very kind & when we told her the high chair was sticky she wiped it down for us quickly & helpfully. She was very mindful of my son & tried to make him comfortable as well.

Other than the freezing temperature, the meal & experience was good. BUT Because of the not having an area to nurse, I couldn’t give them a full 5 stars.

Starbucks

2 Oct

1/2 Star out of 5

Pros:

  • Drive thru-you don’t have to stay there.
  • There are a couple of items kids can have & some drinks can be modified w/out caffeine for kids.

Cons:

  • Nowhere to nurse-no nursing room & the chairs are uncomfortable.
  • NO changing tables
  • Not really room for you to park your stroller inside.
  • No high chairs

Personal Experience:

This review is from a subscriber; She noticed that there really isn’t a baby/kid friendly Starbucks. There doesn’t seem to be a changing table or high chairs at ANY of their billion locations.

It seems intentional to keep kids out; which is a growing trend of making places “Adults only”.

I personally almost never go to Starbucks, I’ve never been much a of a coffee drinker. Altho, I have wanted to down a few cups just to have the energy to get through the day of taking care of my son, but I figured the caffeine would go to him too & HE didn’t need more energy.

1/2 Star out of 5

Pros:

  • Have high chairs (I KNOW! I didn’t know that before either!! 🙂
  • Drive thru-so you don’t have to stay

Cons:

  • NO changing tables
  • Nowhere to nurse-(really awkward to nurse in your car, not just because of how uncomfortable it is in the car but also because of the cars of people at every angle = P
  • If you decide to sit outside its kind of dangerous with cars driving on both sides of you for the drive thru.

Personal Experience:

My son is old enough to sit up & eat. But once he wanted to get up & walk around it was time to go. We ate with friends so with them helping it allowed us to finish eating then leave. I’m sure you can take your kids & eat in the car, which knowing your own kids, you’ll know how well that works for your family.
